Shimano CM1000 sports camera / action camera using the overlay options

November 29, 2014 1 comment

My new action camera arrived last night and I’m impressed already quality is amazing and its easy to use, very very simple it connects with my smartphone via wifi (Nexus 5) but its so simple for videos I won’t be using the view finder option on the smartphone.

One of the reasons I bought the camera for is mainly cycling and the overlay function that shimano have promised for free in there future software (no date yet set)

options at the moment are DashWare (not for me as there upgrading so software download is down) other free option is garmin virb edit (I used it and its fine, except you need to convert to MP4 format, currently the camera is .mov)

Start with file conversion just use windows movie maker (its free and easy) import it and save it (MP4) then take the file into VIRB EDIT and make your movie with there software add the gps overlay options (Garmin 500 files .fit in my case) and trim edit etc and then save, I needed to use the gps sync as I started the garmin late (hey its the first try)

anyway it picked up the Power2Max power meter info on the screen – here’s my very short video trial

what I tried and was completely rubbish

MediaCoder (free but horrid layout)

Convert .mov to Mp4 (from download.com) converted it but stayed a .mov 🙂 lol
