Lubuntu isn’t the easiest to connect to wifi

sudo ifconfig wlan0 up

then goto pref: net connections – add and select wifi add the routers ID – SSID eg BThomehub (ID) and in the general tab add the password under WPA for instance then save and close

go back to terminal LX in my case sudo dhclient and then fire up your browser and bingo you should be cooking with gas or even have the internet

Lubuntu is fast very fast but also very basic in style, but functional things just open FAST đŸ™‚ wifi signal issue that could’nt be cured with the fix a few posts below and an afternoon google searching is already 79% rather than 25% we had with bodhi the ath9k fault is common its not bodhi’s fault.

so the asus is fast at last we moved from windows 8 OMG that’s plain crap to linux mint 15 better but not what were after.

onwards to a faster system hopefully

November 6, 2013 Leave a comment

The recent install has gone really well and the replacement of WINDOWS 8 has really made the asus S300 fly except the odd drop out from the wifi or poor signal. so yet another fix required and fast I HATE DROP OUTS.

search the forums they have a few idea’s on the cure HERE

try this cut and paste into terminal (simples)

Open Dash and search for Terminal and open it
tar xvf backports-20130618.tar.xz
cd backports-20130618
make defconfig-ath9k
sudo make install
(insert your password when sudo asks it).
Ready! Reboot the computer

success I’ve gone from 43% signal to 73% 3 from 4 bars on the signal strength (well better than it was)
